Frequently Asked Questions:
1. How much does a tattoo cost?
Tattoo pricing varies based on size, placement, detail, and the time required, and all tattoos are custom so pricing is discussed before your appointment. We have a $100 shop minimum and hourly rates vary by artist and experience. Larger or multi-session pieces are priced by the session or as a flat rate, and a deposit is required to book and goes toward the final cost.
2. Does getting a tattoo hurt?
Yes, there is some discomfort, but the level varies based on placement, size, and your personal pain tolerance. Areas with thinner skin or more nerve endings—such as ribs, stomach, or feet—tend to be more sensitive. Most clients describe the feeling as a scratch, burn, or vibration rather than sharp pain.
3. How should I prepare for my tattoo appointment?
Eat a good meal, stay hydrated, avoid alcohol or blood-thinning medications, and get a full night’s sleep. Wear comfortable clothing that gives easy access to the area being tattooed. Bring water or a snack for longer sessions. If you’re sick or sunburned, you should reschedule.
4. What is the tattoo aftercare process?
After your session, we’ll bandage the area and provide specific care instructions. Typically this includes: washing gently with unscented soap, applying a thin layer of ointment, and keeping the tattoo clean, moisturized, and out of direct sunlight. Avoid swimming, tanning, scratching, and soaking until fully healed—usually 2–4 weeks.
5. How long does a tattoo take to heal?
Initial healing usually takes 7–14 days depending on size and placement, but deeper layers of skin continue healing for several weeks. Flaking, itching, and light scabbing are normal. Full settling of the tattoo can take up to 6 weeks.
6. Do you accept walk-ins or is it appointment-only?
Availability depends on the day and the artist schedule. We accept walk-ins when possible, but appointments guarantee you a spot and ensure enough time to prepare your artwork. Flash pieces and small tattoos are more walk-in friendly; larger custom work requires an appointment and a deposit.
7. Can you fix or cover up an old tattoo?
Yes, but it depends on the existing tattoo’s size, age, color, and saturation. Not all tattoos can be covered with every design, and we may recommend laser lightening first to open up more design options. A consultation lets us review your tattoo and map out the best approach.
8. What age do I need to be to get a tattoo?
Most states require clients to be 18 with a valid government-issued ID. Some allow minors with parental consent depending on local regulations, but we follow state and county laws. We do not tattoo anyone without proper identification.
